PURPOSE: A system for locking a gearshift lever in a vehicle transmission is provided to prevent damage on the transmission and a torque converter and to prevent overload on an engine and a suspension system while preventing a vehicle from being stolen. CONSTITUTION: A shift mode is detected from a tone wheel sensor(10). A signal is applied to an A/D(Analog/Digital) converter(20) for being compared with a reference value according to traveling mode outputted from a comparing calculator(30). Then, the signal is applied to a forward/reverse rotation decide unit(40). The signal to the decide unit and a signal of an ignition key switch(50) are applied to a controller(60). In case of off state of the ignition key switch, and a neutral or parked state of a vehicle, a controller(60) does not supply power to a solenoid actuator(101). Thus, a lock pin is locked to a guide groove by elastic force of a spring. The lock pin controls a connector pin while preventing operation of a gearshift lever.
