PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To recognize a subject's walking on steps by discriminating the walking on steps from the walking on a flat ground. SOLUTION: This step-walking recognition device can recognize a subject's walking on steps by discriminating the walking on steps from the walking on a flat ground. The device has a tri-axial, acceleration sensor 11 and a tri- axial vibration gyro 12 for monitoring the subject's body movement, an electrocardiogram input electrode 6 for measuring the electrocardiogram of the subject and a memory means for continuously recording and/or storing data about the load of movement on the subject based on the body movement data monitored by the tri-axial acceleration sensor 11 and the tri-axial vibration gyro 12 and data of the electrocardiogram in the monitoring of the body movement. Since the tri-axial vibration gyro 12 detects the rotation angle speed of the subject's legs in the front/rear directions, the subject's walking on steps can be discriminated based on the data.
