PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a luminous element capable of solving the problem of luminescent failure caused by static electric charge as electrode structure and manufacturing process of the luminous element are still simplified. SOLUTION: An electron source 5A constituted with a scanning electrode 9A; a data electrode 10A; a wire-shaped cathode 3 arranged across both electrodes; and a pair of supporting electrodes for stringing the cathode 3 is installed in a matrix shape on a back panel 1c. The scanning electrode 9A and the data electrode 10A are constituted with a rectangular metal plate having a thickness of 200μm, arranged in parallel on the same plane of the back panel lc.
