An adapter (10) has a cradle for supporting a mobile phone (12) with means for guiding the phone into position and means for assuring connection between the phone and the adapter circuits. The adapter has a shutter (16) which allows the temporary blocking off of the phone keypad (34), only allowing the adapter keys to be accessed.
