PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an article transfer device that can move adhesive articles. SOLUTION: A vertically movable frame 14 located just over the waiting position of a tray 5 is lowered to oppose a first gripper member 19 and a second gripper member 24 against the end faces of an adhesive article 2 in the tray 5. With the second gripper member 24 shifted nearer to the first gripper member 19 to grip the adhesive article 2, actuators 20 and 25 for vertical motion lift the gripper members 19 and 24 successively to remove the adhesive article 2 from the tray 5 where it is restrained from upward movement by an arresting means 26.
