<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a magnetic carrier which will not cause the peeling of its coating layer because of superior durability, when it is mixed with a toner and used as a developer over long periods of time, keeps stable amt. of electric charges and as a result, can maintain a sharp image. SOLUTION: This magnetic carrier has composite particles including at least inorganic compound particles and a binder resin. The surfaces of the inorganic compound particles have been treated with a lipotropism agent, having one or more functional groups (A) selected from the group consisting of epoxy, amino, mercapto, organic acid, ester, ketone, haloalkyl and aldehyde groups or a mixture of these agents. The surfaces of the composite particles have been coated with one or more coupling agents, having one or more functional groups (B) different from the functional groups (A) and selected from among the group consisting of epoxy, amino and mercapto groups.</p> |
