PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrode with the surface area drastically increased as compared with that of the plate electrode or mesh electrode having the same external shape and the electrolytic efficiency enhanced. SOLUTION: This electrode is formed by knitting plural yarn-like electrode members 10, 11a and 11b while leaving an opening 13 between the members. In the electrode, the yarn-like electrode member has plural ruggednesses on the surface and a thin-sheet electrode member has plural ruggednesses on the front and/or the rear face. Small-diameter through-holes are are bored in the thin-sheet electrode member with high density. Plural slits are furnished in the electrode member, and the part between the slits is corrugated.
