A method of forming irregularities on the entire or desired portions of garments without design restriction, and a method of manufacturing garments provided with irregularities stretchable in longitudinal and lateral directions as is in the case of knit products. Cloth containing thermoplasti c fibers is cut into parts of a garment (1), these parts are formed into a garment shape by machine-sewing, the garment and heat-shrinkable cloth (2) a re overlapped each other and sewn up by stitching with water-soluble threads (3 ), the sewn-up clothes are heat-treated in a dry condition and with no pressure applied to the clothes to shrink the heat-shrinkable cloth and to thereby fo rm irregularities (1a, 1b) on the cloth of the garment, and later the water- soluble threads are removed by melting to separate the garment cloth from th e heat-shrinkable cloth.
