PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To finish in a fine-grained pattern by using a finishing paint constitution essentially of vehicle components, a silica-containing thixotropic agent, a coloring pigment, and/or a metallic pigment and containing silica in a specified pts.wt. to paint resin solid contents. SOLUTION: To 100 pts.wt. of paint resin solid contents, 5-200 pts.wt., preferably, 7-150 pts.wt. of silica contents in a silica-containing thixotropic agent are contained. In preparation of the paint, primary color paints that pigment contents or the like are blended with substrate resin contents are suitably mixed to produce a main agent with desired color. Furthermore, a crosslinking agent or the like is added to and mixed with paste of the silica containing thixotropic agent. Roller coating suitable for coating with a high viscosity paint or the like is performed to form an uneven, non-smooth chipping pattern. In this way, since a coating process can be simplified and pattern formation and coloring finish are completed by one coating, desired pattern can be easily obtained and a selection range of patterns is widened to obtain a fine-grained pattern.
