PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a peptide having a specific amino acid sequence, reduced in adverse effect, having osteogenic action and useful as an active ingredient for osteogenesis promoters. SOLUTION: This peptide has any of amino acid sequence, etc., represented by formula I [in each Xaa, the position 6 is Lys, Ser or Thr and the position 7 is Ile or Val and the position 10 is Ala or Pro and the position 13 is Ala or Val and the position 18 is Ser or Asn] or an amino acid sequence in which one or more amino acids thereof are deleted, substituted or added and has osteogenic action. The example of the amino acid sequence represented by formula I includes an amino acid sequence of formula II. The peptide can be synthesized by a well-known method, preferably a solid phase method capable of simply operating in synthesis of peptide. Thereby, a peptide having osteogenic action and reduced in adverse effects such as cytotoxicity and osteogenic promoter can be provided.
