METHOD FOR CONNECTING INFORMATION OF OTHER DATA TYPE TO REAL NUMBER VALUATOR BY SPATIAL AND TEMPORAL DESCRIPTION OF SCENE

PURPOSE: A method for connecting information of other data type to real number valuator by spatial and temporal description of scene is provided to improve the function of a real number valuator node specified in MPEG-4 system committee draft by removing the restraint that an output value of a real number value is a constant. CONSTITUTION: A method for connecting information of other data type to real number valuator by spatial and temporal description of scene is for typecasting data of other data type between two BIFS(Binary Format for Scene Description) nodes. The method provides a simple and instructive method to generate dynamic scene description provided to an environment of interactivity. The method includes the steps of: setting an input value of a real number valuator node as an output value of a source node; deciding data type as to the output of the source node and the input of a destination node; selecting a necessary operation and type casting from a set of a procedure determined on the basis of the data type of a field; forming an output of the valuator node by correcting the input by the selection procedure; casting the output of the valuator node to data type necessary to the input of the destination node; and setting the input value of the destination node as an output value of the valuator node.
