PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new compound useful for treatment of disorders accompanied by aging, e.g. atherosclerosis or cataract, treatment of cancer, treatment of cognitive impairment and treatment of acute neurodegenerative disorder, e.g. cerebral ischaemia or epilepsy. SOLUTION: This compound is represented by formula I [R1 is H or the like; R2 and R31 are each an alkyl, a (substituted) aryl or the like; R40 is H, a (substituted) alkyl or the like; R41 and R5 are each H or together form a bond; R6 to R9 are each H, OW (W is H, an acyl or the like) or the like, with the proviso that all of R6 to R9 are not H and one or more group thereof are OW and when R2 and R3 are each an alkyl, one group OW exists in the molecule and represents OH, R40 is a group other than H], e.g. 6-ethoxy-1,2- dihydroquinoline-2-spirocyclohexane. The compound of formula I is obtained, e.g. by a method. etc., for obtaining a compound of formula V by cyclizing a compound of formula IV obtained from aniline of formula II and a halogenated acetylide of formula III (G is H or the like; Hal is a halogen).
