PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To form accurately a desired dynamic pressure generating groove in a shaft member etc. SOLUTION: A coating having ample oil resisting property is applied to an exposed portion of the end face 10A of a rotary shaft 10 for a fluid bearing spindle motor in the condition that a mask 11 having a desired groove shape is set on the end face 10A, and after the coating 12 has hardened, the mask 11 is removed, and thus a desired groove part 15 is formed at the end face 10A.
