METHOD FOR SETTING DECODING PATH IN VITERBI DECODER

PURPOSE: A method for setting a decoding path in a viterbi decoder is provided to set a decoding pat speedily by substituting a state of a temporary path for a complementary number. CONSTITUTION: A method for setting a decoding path in a viterbi decoder comprises the steps of: computing a range of M if a new data is inputted; storing corresponding data to a register if a start point of (k-1) step is defined as an indefiniteness when the M progresses to a corresponding region between 1 and 3 from (k-1) step to k step; defining a determination point as a zero when M < 1 and taking a complement against data stored in the register when data exists at the register and a data content at the lowest location is 1; and defining a determination point as 1 when M > 3 and taking a complement against the data stored in the register when data exists at the register and a data content at the lowest location is 1.
