The device includes a display for displaying information for the user. A control device controls the operation of the device. It puts the device into a specific operating condition. The device displays data which are related to the code of a network whose the mobile device has received. The control device after having set the device to the operating condition, tests a predetermined condition and determines the data to be displayed on the basis of the results of the test. Independent claims also cover a mobile communication system and a method of controlling the device.
