For the continuous production of board materials, using heat and pressure in a double-belt press (100), the heat carrier medium is unheated for a trailing section (3) of the press stretch (3). The heat is taken from the carrier medium leaving the trailing section (3) at the support structure (26,27) by a heat exchanger (50), to be picked up for another assembly (53). The heat absorbed at the trailing press section (3) is taken from the carrier medium for a preheating or drying stage for the loose material (4') to be compressed or for heating water or a thermo-oil. An Independent claim is included for a double-belt press (100) with two continuous metal shaping belts (1,2) on a vertical plane. The upper level (2') of the lower belt (2) and the lower level (1') of the upper belt (1) face each other in the press stretch (3) over each other on a support structure (26,27). The loose material (4') between the belt levels is compressed into a board by heat and pressure on it through the two belts. The support structure (26,27) has channels to take the heat carrier medium flow. The support structure channels at the trailing press section (3) are fed with an unheated carrier medium, and they are connected to a heat exchanger (50) to take heat from the trailing press section (3) for another assembly (53). Preferred Features: The other assembly (53) is for the units in front of the double-belt press (100) to heat or dry the loose board material (4'), or for heating water or thermo-oil. Continuous roller chains (30) move between the shaping belts (1,2) and the support structure (26,27) in the press stretch (3) to transfer heat from the support structure (26,27) to the belts (1,2). The roller chains (30) at the trailing press section (3) are separated from the roller chains (30) in the preceding section (3') of the press stretch (3).
