PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve glossiness by smoothing a printed color heat sensitive recording paper. SOLUTION: A color heat-sensitive recording paper 10 is reciprocated three times, so that a yellow image, a magenta image and a cyan image are printed by a thermal head 33 sequentially in the order of faces. The color heat-sensitive recording paper 10 is reciprocated once again after the cyan image is recorded, whereby the recording paper 10 is smoothed by the thermal head 33. Smooth data are converted at a smooth data conversion look-up table memory (LUT) 48 from cyan image data. The data become large when the cyan image data show a low density and small when the cyan image data show a high density. Since the thermal head is driven and smoothed on the basis of the data, generation of a bumpy surface due to a density change is restricted even at a part where the density suddenly changes, e.g. from white to black or from black to white. At the same time, minute bumps and recesses given rise to at the surface on the occasion of coloring and recording are smoothed. |
