PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a substrate having a high-accuracy phosphor layer by setting the maximum grain size of the inorganic phosphor powder forming the phosphor layer to a specific value or below, and stably discharging a phosphor paste from a base. SOLUTION: The maximum grain size of inorganic phosphor powder is set to 40 μm or below, preferably 30 μm or below, and the average grain size is preferably set to 0.5-15 μm, and the specific surface area is preferably set to 0.1-5 m<2> /cc. One or two or more kinds of [(Y, Gd, Eu)BO3 ], [(Y, Eu)2 O3 ], [(Zn, Mn)2 SiO4 ], [(Ba, Eu) MgAl10 O17 ], [(Ba, Sr, Mg)O.aAl2 O3 :Mn] and [BaAl12 O19 :Mn] are preferably used for the phosphor powder. Three kinds of red, green and blue phosphor pastes are discharged from a base and applied into a stripe shape between barrier ribs on a glass substrate to form a fluorescent screen. A phosphor layer is uniformly applied to the side faces and bottom sections of barrier ribs, thus a PDP excellent in luminance can be manufactured. |
