METHOD FOR SCREENING TELOMERASE ACTIVITY-REGULATING AGENT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a method for screening a telomerase activity-regulating agent. SOLUTION: The method for determining if a test compound regulates a telomerase activity is obtained by 1) combining a preparation containing a telomerase activity, a substrate oligonucleotide which can be elongated by the telomerase activity, nucleotide triphosphates, and a test compound in a reaction mixture, 2) incubating the resultant mixture under the condition where the substrate oligonucleotide is elongated by a telomerase activity and one or more nucleotide triphosphate(s) is/are incorporated in the absence of a telomerase activity-regulating agent, 3) determining if the substrate oligonucleotide is elongated, followed by 4) the correlation between promoted or inhibited elongation of the substrate oligonucleoticle and regulation of the telomerase activity.
