A computer mouse has a casing (12), at least a central portion of which has a width greater than 25 millimetres and less than 45 millimetres, the casing upright sides (20) of which are designed to be held between the thumb and middle finger of a hand, and two mouse buttons (22, 23) one located forwardly of the other, both extending across the majority of the width of the casing and both designed to be operated by the index finger of a hand. The index finger thus needs to move only forwards/ rearwards by a small amount to operate the buttons 22, 23. The buttons 22,23 may be distinguishable by feel and their functions may be swapped by a switch located in the base. The casing may be in two parts with concave sides 20 and rear wall 20A.
