PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a self-extensible yarn capable of manifesting latent three- dimensional crimp when it is woven, its production method, and a composite yarn. SOLUTION: This self-extensible yarn capable of manifesting latent three- dimensional crimp is a flat yarn comprising polyester multi-filament, manifests three dimensional crimp when treated with boiling water and/or dry heat and the like at the time of dyeing process and is self-extensible in its axial direction, wherein the rate of stretch extension CS shown by Formula 1 is >=2% to <=10%; the modulus of stretch CD shown by Formula 2 is >=60% ; and self-extension rateΔSH after dry heat treatment at 180 deg.C falls within the range shown by Formula 3: Formula 1: CS(%)= (LC2-LC1)/LC1}×100, Formula 2: CD(%)= (LC 2-LC3)/(LC2-LC1)}×100, Formula 3: 0%<ΔSH<=12%, wherein LC1: the length (mm) under 2 mg/d load after dry heat treatment at 180 deg.C.
