Permanent creases are imparted to wool fabrics, e.g. wool skirts and trousers, by treating them with an aqueous solution containing 0.1-10% by weight of an organosilicone compound in which there is an average per silicon atom of 1-2 aliphatic hydrocarbon radicals containing 1-3 carbon atoms attached to the silicon through carbon-silicon bonds, there being on the average not more than 3 carbon atoms per silicon atom, the remaining valencies of the silicon atom being satisfied by hydrosyl radicals and/or oxygen atoms of Si O Si linkages, and then creasing them under heat and pressure. The silyl units of the organosilicon compound having the defined hydrocarbon radicals may be CH3Si, C3H7Si, CH2= CHSi, CH2= CHCH2Si, CH3CH= CHSi, (CH3)2Si=, (CH3) (C2H5)Si= or C2H5Si, the remaining valencies of the silicon atoms being satisfied by hydroxyl radicals or oxygen present as Si-O-Si linkages. After impregnation with the aqueous solution, e.g. by dipping, spraying or padding, the fabric may if desired be dried and then creased. Entire garments need not be wetted with the aqueous solution but only the areas in which creasing is to be effected. |
