<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a valve system for an internal combustion engine capable of opening and closing smoothly an inlet valve or an exhaust valve without lowering fuel consumption or output even during the high speed rotation of the internal combustion engine. SOLUTION: An inlet side drive shaft 21 to which the rotation of the output shaft of an engine is transmitted is rotatably supported by a cylinder head 15. The rotation of the shaft 21 is converted into the circulating movement (rotation) of first and second belt members 43 and 44 through first and second worm gears 55 and 56. These belt members 43 and 44 are provided with guide grooves 47 and 48 extending circumferentially. The guide grooves 47 and 48 are provided with curved parts 47a and 48a for opening and closing an inlet valve 19. Then, when the belt members 43 and 44 circulate, the inner walls of the guide grooves 47 and 48 (curved parts 47a, 48a) press a valve roller 57 attached to the valve 19 so as to open and close the inlet valve 19.</p> |
