PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate use in a very distal vasculature and obtain a catheter with high flexibility and expansibility by providing a membrane assembly which is connected to the distal end of an inner tube assembly at the distal position and forms an expansive cavity fluidly communicating with an annular space between the outer and inner tube assemblies. SOLUTION: A catheter assembly 100 has an open lumen along its total length in such a manner that a guide wire 112 is extended to the outside of a distal end through a proximal end, and the guide wire 112 has a radioactive ray impermeable coil 114. A membrane 108 is expanded and contracted by this annular lumen to be separated from the central lumen or a lumen including the guide wire 112. An expansible fluid is supplied through a tool such as a side arm part 116 of a lure 118 to the annular lumen. The side arm part 116 and the lure 118 include a socket or a fixture for fitting to a supply source for an expansive fluid, a radioactive ray impermeable fluid for monitoring passing of a catheter along the vasculature, physiological saline for washing the guide wire lumen or the like. |
