The method involves transmitting a synchronisation pulse stream with at least one synchronisation pulse before transmitting the data to be transmitted. The synchronisation pulse stream synchronises the data pick-up clock generator at the receiver end. The synchronisation pulse stream contains the synchronisation time point and also a clock frequency information which is determined at the receiver end. The clock frequency is adjusted according to the determined clock frequency information by the data pick-up clock generator whose clock frequency is controllable. Preferably, the time period of a synchronisation pulse may be taken from the clock frequency information which contains the clock frequency of the data pick-up clock. The time period of the synchronisation pulse preferably corresponds to the period of a data pulse.
