The bag (1), possibly made from hose (6), is stabilised by welded longitudinal edgings (4). The width (b) of these edgings is reduced in the region of the middle (5) of the bag and increased towards the top seam (3) and/or the bottom seam (2). It is easy to grip the bag in the region of the middle. The welded longitudinal edgings can be cut to the required shape during or after welding. There may be four longitudinal edgings and the bag may have a standing bottom (8), or only two longitudinal edgings in the case of a flat bag.
