Apparatus for enriching charged molecules comprises: (a) a container for receiving a solution containing the charged molecules; (b) /- 1 insert with a surface that can contact the solution and is coated with molecules having affinity for the charged molecules, and (c) a means for generating an electric field that will cause the charged molecules to move in the direction of the surface.
