Electronic control module e.g. mounted on motor vehicle automatic transmission

An electronic control module 1 is mounted on a device housing 2 e.g. automatic transmission gear-box of road vehicle. The module has an electronic circuit board 3 and mounted on the surface of this is a heatsink 8. The module underside is separated from the equipment housing by a suitable gap and through this flows air that provides a thermally insulating barrier. A ceramic plate may be inserted in the gap for additional insulation.
