The present invention relates to the use of an Enterococcus faecium for the preparation of a medicinal product suitable for the therapeutical treatment of hypercholesterolemiae. In particular, the present invention takes into consideration the Enterococcus faecium belonging to that strain defined as SF 68. The present invention furthermore discloses and relates to pharmaceutical compositions directed to such a use.
