Liq. in a receiver (3) is treated to separate solid particles and/or fluid droplets by subjecting it to oscillations using an ultrasonic generator (7) to agglomerate several particles and/or droplets, which are retained in the receiver and/or are sepd. off by means of a solid and/or droplet separator. Pref. the oscillation frequency is selected so that conglomerates and/or aerosols with diameters of more than 1 micron are generated. A pref. fluid is waste gas from which undesired contents are condensed out in the receiver. The gas may be passed through a bubble column which contains a receiver cooled by a cooling coil (4) fed with a cryogenic liq.,partic liq. nitrogen.
