PROCESS FOR PREPARING AGGREGATE MATERIAL USING FLYASH AND CLAY

The process comprises (a)mixing 50-60 wt.% flyash, 20-40 wt.% clay and 20-30 wt.% feldspar mixture with 10-30 wt.% a fumed silica, 10-20 wt.% broken glass and 5-10 wt. % CaCO3 as a foaming agent; (b)molding the mixture into a spheroidal aggregate by spraying 25-30 wt. % water, providing said mixture successively into a pelletizer; (c)sintering the spheroidal aggregate at 1,100 deg.C or less for 1 hour. The lightweight aggregate is prepared at a low sintering temperature and has a low specific gravity by using flyash, clay and additives such as fumed silica and broken glass.
