The invention relates to a high-alloy iron-containing additive for layers protecting against wear (anti-wear layers, anti-abrasion layers) on base material made of iron alloys. The iron-containing material contains 3-4.5% of silicon. Also present, preferably, is 1.5-2% of manganese and the carbon content is preferably at least 5%. In addition, a number of highly specific alloys are described with which excellent wear resistance is observed.
