PURPOSE:To shorten the starting time of a gate voltage while providing a protective function. CONSTITUTION:The power element driving circuit comprises a power element (IGBT) 6, a driving circuit connected to a gate of the element 6 to drive the element, a gate voltage control circuit 2 for controlling the driving circuit, an error detector 9 connected to a collector of the element 6 to detect an error state according to a collector voltage, and an error detecting time gate voltage control circuit 16 for gradually lowering the gate voltage of the element 6 in response to the signal of the detector 9. Further, the driving circuit comprises a protective operation holding circuit 30 for holding a gate voltage lowering step even if a signal of a gate voltage OFF is input at the time of lowering step of the gate voltage upon detecting of the error. |
