Voltage and current supply arrangement for fluorescent lamps

One or more fluorescent tubes or lamps are supplied from a mains AC source through a full-wave rectifier (26), a condenser (32) and an intermediary circuit (34) with a further energy store. This extends and equalises the current delivered by the rectifier during periods of low frequency voltage. At the input to the intermediary circuit are two condensers (72,76) and three diodes (74, 78,80) making another bridge circuit, with a diode as the central limb. The anode of the central diode is connected to the cathode of one outer circuit-diode, and the cathode of the central diode is connected to the anode of the other outer-circuit diode.
