PURPOSE: To substantially remove moire in a halftone generated when resolution of a binary image signal is converted. CONSTITUTION: The binary image with a first resolution is received, then a printing process for the received binary image signal is electronically simulated by using a model (function) resembling an actual shape of a printing spot generated by a printer 250 and a gray image signal with high resolution is generated from the binary image signal by the method. Then, the gray image signal with high resolution is processed by a filter. After that, a gray image signal with a second resolution is generated by sampling the gray image signal which is processed by the filter again with a certain frequency. The gray image signal is converted into the binary image signal by an error diffusion method. |
