PURPOSE: To provide a solid electrolyte for a sodium-sulfur battery and a method for producing the electrolyte with improved electric and mechanical properties to be suitable for mass production and easy to adjust the characteristics to a sintering temperature. CONSTITUTION: This solid electrolyte is a solid electrolyte for a sodium-sulfur battery and consists of 7.0-10.0 w/o of Na2 O, 0.5-3.5 w/o of MgO, or 0.7-1.0 w/o of Li2 O and 0.01-0.6 w/o and WO3 , and balance Al2 O3 . A method for producing the solid electrolyte includes process of mixing of raw materials, calcination, pulveriation, molding, and sintering and the electrolyte is produced by adding WO3 to the starting raw materials at the time of mixing or adding after sintering. |
