<p>PURPOSE: To easily and economically detect the position of a money amount inside a binary bit map image by indicating that the money amount is present inside a window when a classified part satisfies a fixed geometrical criterion when detecting a matching with a pattern for indicating the money amount in the classified part. CONSTITUTION: The window 42 is the rectangular part of a binary image and the window 42 is turned to a size not provided with more than one character for indicating a dollar money amount. An object list into the window 42 is prepared and a list 43 is searched for the purpose of detecting fixed arrangement composed of respective parts. In the case of detecting the arrangement of the character, a dot, the character and the character or the character, a gap, the character and the character, a right end becomes the character of the right end of a predicted money amount.
