Developer solution in a chamber 2 is replenished by means of concentrated solution from a tank 18. Tank 18 is sealed by a valve 17 until the tank is mounted on chamber 2 whereupon an abutment member 19 opens the valve. Solution pours from tank 18 into a container 15 until the level in container 15 reaches the level of the valve opening. Container 15 floats in the liquid in chamber 2 by means of a float 15a so that when the level in chamber 2 drops, due to the development of sheets passing therethrough, container 15 also drops. This causes more solution to pour from tank 18 into container 15 and then overflow into chamber 2 until the original level in chamber 2 is restored. Container 15 is fixed to a pivoted lever 15b or constrained by a rod (1156), Fig. 2 (not shown), to ensure its remaining in position below tank 18. Copy sheets are guided through the chamber 2 by rollers 7, 8, 9, 10 and slotted plates 5, 6. A cam 10a, fixed to roller 10, operates an agitator 11 for stirring the solution. A felt pad 25 cleans roller 9. A formula is given relating the concentration of solution in the tank and chamber to its rate of removal. |
