Method for the production of parts by superplastic forming

A material (15) which is capable of producing a gas pressure of (34-210) x 10<4> Pa at a temperature required for superplastic forming is enclosed in a sealed manner in a space adjoining which there is at least one semi-finished product (1) to be formed superplastically. The semi-finished products (1) are deformed by the tensile stresses caused by the internal pressure produced by the material (15) when heated. The method can be carried out simultaneously with the production of a diffusion bond in order to obtain a metal structure consisting of a plurality of workpieces, and it can also be used to produce spherical hollow bodies of high dimensional accuracy by a method which does not employ a forming tool. In this method, there is no need to supply argon gas as in conventional methods. <IMAGE>
