PURPOSE:To perfectly remove ink by a simple mechanism using a cleaning roller formed from an elastic member in order to clean an ink jet head and having protruding members and ink holding shallow recessed parts long in the direction parallel to the shaft of roller formed on the circumferential surface thereof in a rectangular cross-sectional shape. CONSTITUTION:In a cleaning device removing the ink bonded to surfaces of the nozzles of an ink jet head emitting ink droplets from the nozzles, a cleaning roller 1 formed from an elastic member and having protruding members 3 each having a rectangular crosssectional shape in the direction vertical to the shaft 2 of the roller and long in the direction parallel to the shaft 2 of the roller continuously arranged on the circumferential surface thereof and having ink holding shallow recessed parts between the protruding members 3 is used. This roller 1 is rotated while moved in parallel to the nozzle surfaces of the ink jet head 10 or moved in a circular arc state to scrape up and absorb ink and ink can be perfectly removed by a simple mechanism. |
