The bumper or ram protection bar is for a vehicle. A wall hole (25) is provided in each of the oppositely facing wall regions of a pair of side shanks (11,12). The hole has a dia. equal to a first OD (21). The two ends (22) of a cross tube (18) are inserted in the holes and welded to the side shanks along the lines of penetration (26). The first OD measures a max. of 95 per cent of the first ID (27).
