A tool (10) that is useful for assembling a composite connector from a plurality of individual connectors, mounting the composite connector having a plurality of right angle tails extending into openings formed in a substrate, and stiffening the substrate to prevent bowing. The tool (10) comprises a body (12) formed of insulating material having a plurality of slots (18). The slots (18) are sized appropriately to nonremovably receive the tails of various forms.
