The appts. is for photo-acoustic spectroscopy and has a sample chamber with a light source for periodical radiation of the sample with modulated light an a pressure sensor for determining the pressure fluctuations caused by the radiation. The location for excitation of the sample by the modulated light and that for measurement of the pressure fluctuations are sepd. from one another and both are connected with one another by a non-resonant pressure transmission reaction which can be hydraulic or as a liq. crystal. As sample location, pref. sample chamber (2) is arranged between a coupling window (3) for the exciting light and a membrane (5), and these are connected to the pressure sensor (9) via the pressure transmission section (8). ADVANTAGE - To overcome problems with knwon equipment where the sample has to be placed manually in the measurement chamber, preventing photo-acoustic spectroscopy.
