<p>The invention provides for the use of Congo Red or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt or derivative thereof for the manufacture of a medicament for the treatment of a mammal having a condition associated with an amyloidogenic protein other than casein. Among the conditions that can be treated by the medicament are scrapie and Alzheimer's Disease (AD). Examples of such proteins include PrP-res and PrP-sen.</p> |
