Data processing system with cryptographic facility

A cryptographic facility for a data processing system uses objects referred to as context types to specify attributes such as, for example, intended algorithm, intended use, key size, and default key. The facility provides a number of context types which can be used to create new context instances when required. An object referred to as a context type factory creates context types appropriate to a required level of protection.
