PURPOSE:To evade gain deterioration which is to be caused by installing a branch for gain monitoring, in an optical fiber amplifier which performs direct amplification of light by stimulated emission of a fiber doped with rare earth elements. CONSTITUTION:The title amplifier consists of the following; a fiber 10 doped with rare earth elements, a pumping light source which excites the fiber 10 and causes it stimulated emission, a photocoupler 11 which introduces the output light from the light source 12 to the fiber 10, an optical bandpass filter 13 which transmits the signal light components outputted from the fiber 10 and reflects spontaneous emmision light, and a light receiving module 14 which receives the reflected light from the bandpass filter 13. |
