A two stage filtration system for removing textile waste materials and the like from transport air. The first stage includes a preseparator having a cylindrical screen and an inlet at the interior portion of the cylindrical screen and an outlet on the outside portion of the screen, and the outlet portion is in open communication with a panel filter for further cleaning. Large waste particles are separated by the cylindrical screen and contained in a compartment therebeneath. A second stage filter is provided which includes a generally rectangular housing having a flat filter element extending diagonally thereacross, a small fan is provided for diverting a relatively small portion of the main air in the first stage to carry the collected waste particles from the first stage to the bottom face of the flat filter in the second stage. The waste material collected on the bottom surface of the flat filter is permitted to fall to the bottom wall of the filter unit, such bottom wall being selectively pivoted to an open position to automatically dump the collected waste materials therefrom.
