PURPOSE:To curtail the number of stages of transistors required for obtaining a selecting signal by controlling a selector for selecting a number added to a dividend by a quotient digit determined by a quotient digit determining means. CONSTITUTION:A quotient digit determining means 14 determines a quotient digit from a dividend or a specific part of a partial residue, and a quotient digit correcting means 15 executes a prescribed correction to the determined quotient digit in accordance with a code of a divisor. Also, a divisor deciding means 18 receives the divisor and inverts all bits of the divisor when a code of its divisor is negative, and inputs it to a selector 7 for selecting a number added to the dividend or the partial residue in an adder 8. As for a selecting signal for controlling the selector 7, the quotient digit determined by the quotient digit determining means 14 is used. Accordingly, even in a buffer in which a code of the divisor is negative, a selecting signal to the selector is obtained without using the quotient digit corrected by the quotient digit correcting means 15. |
