The pallets are moved to a selected storage plane, or cna be moved from this on a transport element (32). At least one loading and/or discharging plane is provided, in which the pallets (7) are automatically brought to the transport element or removed from this, by means of the haulage unit (38). The lift (14) has two vertical lift shafts (20.1, 20.2), which are connected above or below the storage and loading and/or off loading (19, 0), by semiconductor shaped lift shaft curves (22) to a closed double shaft of a high powered lift (14). The transport element in the lift can only circulate in a preselected direction, and an electric linear motor is provided for driving the transport element. The motor consists of stator parts (26) integrated int he lift shafts and the lift shaft curves, and rotor parts (36) working in conjunction with the stator parts, fixed at the transport element. The stator parts (26) consists of stator iron packets producing electromagnetic fields, and the rotor parts (36) consist of magnets assigned to these and the stator packets and the magnets form a longitudinal stator-linear motor. Economic, space saving and environmentally friendly, requires low maintenance and gives optimum distribution structure with hitherto unknown order of magnitude and minimises access time.
