The image processing system has the required section of an original image, for which the image point information is to be processed, defined by marking. The image point coordinates define its position within the original image, detected during the opto-electronic scanning of the latter. The marking is effected using coded information provided by a defined contrast variation containing information designating the required section and the required image processing. The coded information is in the form of a bar code. USE - For selective image processing of selected section of scanned original image.
